HTC Desire HD (Gingerbread v2.3.5) Downgrade/MIUI ROM Install

After waisting hours trying to root and downgrade my DHD using Win7 and being told that "the main version was too old" or some crap like that, I desided to go for the Linux way. And as it turns out, Linux saves the day (as I would expect :) )!

  1. Download aahk AND READ THE MANUAL!
  2. Download Ubuntu 10.04 Live (because that's what the 'efffen manual' says (from the aahk kit))!
  3. Open Terminal and type: wget http://tau.shadowchild.nl/files/aahk-12062012.zip && unzip aahk-12062012.zip && sudo ./hack-ace.sh (12062012 was the current version. Use whatever is the most recent). TIP: By default this unpacks aahk to the user-folder.
  4. Open CAJUN.txt in the /tools/txt/ folder and paste the content into Terminal and proceed (use the 'cat' command to display the text file if you want)
  5. If PD98IMG.zip is invalid aahk will download an alternate version (PD98IMG-GB2.zip). Mine did and worked through Linux and not Win7
  6. If things worked, you should now have a downgrade phone. Turn off 'fast boot'!
  7. On the phone enter Recovery mode (doing the 'volume down'/'power button' thing)
  8. Whipe ALL DATA on the phone (whipe data/factory reset and whipe partition cache)! My MIUI rom got stock in boot screen because I forgot to do that!
  9. Navigate to the locationen where you put your ROM install zip (from sd-flash) and let it do its thing
  10. If it works you should now have a DHD with Android v4.x.x
  • If things fail READ THE EFFFEN MANUAL! :)
Notes:
  • To avoid Chinese gibberish, install an earlier English version and then MIUI 2.8.24 without wiping anything. This preserves data.
  • By default bluetooth doesn't work for MIUI 2.8.24. Install KangBang Kernel.
