So I was going to update the MCU (the display unit) and got the latest MCU file I could find, which was version 38. I then got a lit but black screen. Notification sounds were still heard though. Dammit!
But fear not.......just downgrade!
Or upgrade, it's up to you. Just get anything else but version 38! It apparently "bricks" your display.
The very first thing you need to do, is to start the Android box and display as usual. I used an external power supply running 13.8 volts (but you could just start it up from your car). Then connect a HDMI / mini-HDMI to an external screen. Both displays will work simultaniously. Also an SD card inserted into the Android box. Oh, and a mouse helps, though touching the display works just as well...
You could use a PC. But the way I did it was searching Google for an alternate version on my mobile. Then extracting the .hex and .bin files to Google Drive. Then opening Google Drive from the CarPad and saving it to the root "/" of the SD card. Ok, just open the update app, flash the MCU and reboot....et voilĂ !
